Difference Between Sewage Ejector Pumps & Sump Pump Systems!

Difference Between Sewage Ejector Pumps & Sump Pump Systems
Ejector Pump System
Sump Pump System

Sewage ejector pump systems are always confused for sump pump systems. There are some similarities but both have different purposes for your homes plumbing. I am focusing on the Ejector pump system and the main difference from a sump pump system is that the ejector pump handles sewage and grey water. When your home has a overhead sewer system and you have a bathroom or either laundry in the basement you will always have a sewage ejector pump system to help eject the water up into the overhead sanitary sewer drain. Sump pump systems are usually tied into your drain tile system that collects water around your foundation that either splashes out directly outside or pumps into a storm drain system. Another difference between ejector pump and sump pump is the size of the discharge line. Ejector pumps system will always have a 2" discharge pipe while the sump pump systems are  1-1/2 discharge line  most of the time. Another good way to determine if it is a ejector pump system or sump pump system is the type of lid that is sealing the pit. Ejector pumps will always have a sealed lip to prevent sewer smell, while sump pump system have an open lid that usually have condensate lines draining into them.

Drain Tile and Sump Pump System Simplified!

Drain Tile and Sump Pump systems are important features to keeping a dry basement. Drain tile system are installed in basements to gather the water around your foundation wall and direct it to the sump pump witch then pumps it out directly outside that's called a splash out. Some cities in the North Shore Chicago land area with storm sewers allow home owners to drop the sump pump discharge line in to the storm sewer. Some cities are strict and do not allow discharge into storm sewer. Running the excess water away from your house is key to having a well installed system. Flood controls and Overhead sewer system will protect you from sanitary sewer flooding but with flash floods and large volumes of water around your home a drain tile system is what helps keep water out. In some case a house can be protected from the sanitary sewer but seepage and foundation cracks will allow water in that will cause you to flood from hydro-static pressure that can crack your foundation floor and create settling problems around your home.

We Finance Flood Control System North Shore Chicago!

Sand bags, shovels, pumps, and water have been a normal thing the last couple of days in the Chicago land area. Flooding happens due to flash floods that are unpredictable and can strike at any time. Being prepared is important and may be costly. Financing a flood control might not be on your mind but it is important for your homes well being. I currently feel for everyone that had a flooded basement because I was working while my home was being flooded with sewage water because the city sewer was overwhelmed with water and back up into my own home that was unprotected from back flow from the main sanitary sewer line. If only a flood control system was installed I would have saved my TV, computers, and very important pictures that where damaged and had a lot of sentimental value that really touched me personally. I was at work overwhelmed with calls in the middle of the night fighting to protect our customer’s basement while my own was under water. If I could go back, I'm sure many would have asked themselves the same question. Financing a flood control is smart for many reasons. When you flood it costs a lot of property damage, money, and stress. After a flood restoration is required that some insurance companies may cover but all this can be avoided with a simple flood control system. Reliance Plumbing Flood Control is a great Dual Check Valve system that prevents city back flow into your home. Threats of Flash Floods and Basement Flooding Chicago land!

Most homeowners in the Chicago and Chicago-land suburbs experience flooded basements during major storms aka (Flash Floods). These types of floods are expensive to clean up and can cause lots of damage to your home. To prevent such flooding issues, Reliance Plumbing installs flood control systems or converts gravity sewers to overhead sewer systems. The advantages of an overhead sewer system is that, it dose not rely on electricity to prevent flooding. A big advantage of this system is that during major storms lots of homes lose power that cause there sump pumps not to eject water out of the home. Not all homes can be converted to overhead sewer system due to shallow sewer mains that is a requirement for installation. Another great option to prevent flooding would be a Dual Check Valve Flood Control system. This system prevents the city water from "backing up" into your home when the city mains are overwhelmed with water. Flash floods are a sudden rain fall in small amount of time; that cause the city sewer lines problems because it can not keep up with the volume of water that cause it to "back up" into the lowest points which is usually an unprotected basement drain.

Sump Pump Battery Back Up System

BATTERY BACK UP SUMP PUMP SYSTEM
Reliance Plumbing installs the PHCC Glentronics Battery Back Up system that works well and a better choice for your wallet. There are three different types of units which include the 1000, 1730, and 2400 system  The model # stands for how many gallons per hour the backup pump can discharge water. The 1000 is the most basic unit and I like it because it is compatible with the maintenance free battery witch is nice because you never have to add distilled water to the battery. The 1730 is a good unit and pumps more water per hour but the only downfall of this system is that it is not compatible with the maintenance free battery and needs to uses the acid battery that has to be maintained every couple moths. The 2400 is also a great system and you can use the maintenance free battery and is usually a system that many customers like because of the price and the features.
INSTALLATION TIPS FOR BATTERY BACK UP SYSTEM
When installing the back up system you should always install a separate discharge line from your primary sump pump. There are many benefits for installing separate discharge pipe for example if one freezes you have a back up discharge pipe. Also instead of sharing 1-1/2 pipe between the primary pump and back up pump, with two 1-1/2 lines ejecting more water when sudden flash floods demand more volume of flow from your pumps.
