Difference Between Sewage Ejector Pumps & Sump Pump Systems!

Difference Between Sewage Ejector Pumps & Sump Pump Systems
Ejector Pump System
Sump Pump System

Sewage ejector pump systems are always confused for sump pump systems. There are some similarities but both have different purposes for your homes plumbing. I am focusing on the Ejector pump system and the main difference from a sump pump system is that the ejector pump handles sewage and grey water. When your home has a overhead sewer system and you have a bathroom or either laundry in the basement you will always have a sewage ejector pump system to help eject the water up into the overhead sanitary sewer drain. Sump pump systems are usually tied into your drain tile system that collects water around your foundation that either splashes out directly outside or pumps into a storm drain system. Another difference between ejector pump and sump pump is the size of the discharge line. Ejector pumps system will always have a 2" discharge pipe while the sump pump systems are  1-1/2 discharge line  most of the time. Another good way to determine if it is a ejector pump system or sump pump system is the type of lid that is sealing the pit. Ejector pumps will always have a sealed lip to prevent sewer smell, while sump pump system have an open lid that usually have condensate lines draining into them.

Northbrook Storm Sewer Maintenance

"Periodic maintenance of the storm sewer structures is required to maximize the life expectancy of the system and to ensure the overall structural integrity of the infrastructure. Storm sewer lines are televised to determine the integrity of the storm sewer pipe and to note any suspected structural problems. Storm sewer segments showing signs of tree roots have those removed and sewers are flushed as a preventive measure and to open potential blockages in the system. In isolated and emergency circumstances, point repairs are performed on defective storm sewer trunk and service lines, and failed sections of culverts are replaced. During periods of heavy and/or prolonged rainfall, crews are assigned to clean debris from storm sewer inlets. In addition, crews are immediately dispatched to respond to calls by residents whose basements are flooding due to plumbing backups, sump pump failures, overland flooding or seepage. Street or yard surface drainage problems are also accorded top priority.”http://www.northbrook.il.us/index.aspx?page=296
